The Real Number One Mission In Your Business

It doesn’t matter how amazing you are at your job if your customers can’t find you, you aren’t getting business.

Whether you’re a dentist, mechanic, or a hairdresser the mission of your business probably isn’t what you think it is.  Your mission isn’t just about teeth, cars, or hair.  It’s so much more than that.

What may surprise you even more is that no matter what your area of specialty or who you work to serve, every business shares one key mission:  to be found.  That is your true job.

If nobody knows you exist then you won’t have anyone to serve.  Your number one objective should be that people know you’re there.

There is a quote by a New York Times bestselling author and the creator of the Fascinate personality test, Sally Hogshead, which I really love.  “It’s better to be different than to be the best.”  I really feel like this illustrates the point I’m trying to make.

It’s hard to stand out as the best Zebra if you are standing in a group of Zebras.  But you can easily stand out as the best Zebra if you are standing in a herd of horses.  So what can you do to make yourself stand out from the crowd?

I hear it all the time, ‘Ginger, I’ve been in business for 20 years, everybody knows I’m here but no one is coming in’.  Unfortunately sometimes part of my job is breaking bad news to people.  So I have to burst their bubble and tell them it isn’t implied that everyone knows you exist.

Even if they drive by your office every day or you’ve even had them as a patient or customer in the past, that doesn’t mean you are on the top of their consciousness right now.  Peopled need reminding.

I want your mission this week to be figuring out how to be found.  Now, I’m not saying you need to book a super expensive, fancy TV commercial.  There are many little ways you can get your business out there.  I want you to find those things so you can set yourself apart and be the best Zebra you can be.

In this video, you’ll learn about:

  • The true mission of your business
  • Figuring out how to stand out from the crowd
  • Making sure your patients know you exist
Please take a few minutes and watch the video above– do it for you and for your practice.
I wish you nothing but success,
Ginger
