What Does Your Business Stand For

[What Does Your Business Stand For]

Remember when you first decided to go into business?

There was the inspiration and a spark of an idea strong enough to take that leap.  Then it’s followed by a grand plan based on what you feel people need and what you stand for.

When it comes to the daily operations of the business, there are a lot of things involved. And when you get bogged down in the trenches, and you feel like, “I can’t take any more of this paperwork, the frustrations, and the next thing that’s coming down the pike”, it’s time to revisit why you went through all of this in the first place.

Now for each of us, it’s different.  We each have key pillars that we build our business beliefs on.   I explain this concept to my clients as their “non-negotiables”: elements so important, their business would never compromise on them.

These are YOUR core values.

These beliefs didn’t spontaneously appear in your life.  Good or bad, they came from somewhere once upon a time. They were shaped from the environment you were raised in. It was from your mentors that you watched in the community or your family.  Maybe you found inspiration in a biography of somebody you admired or from a mastermind that you worked with.

It’s time to revisit those golden nuggets and see what keeps you going. It’s too easy to get bogged down by tactics and all these shiny objects.   When it comes to growth, it comes back to your relationship with your business and your customers.

When things get tough (and they will). Your non-negotiables are going to get you out of it.

Your inspiration assignment this week:

I want you to make a list of five reasons and core values related to why you went into business, your non-negotiables, and why those are important to you.

Whenever you make a decision, you’ll have that guidance to help you through.
