When you should be marketing your business, and the answer might surprise you.
I am often asked when you should be marketing in your business. People usually come to me with this question when business is down and they need to spike their numbers immediately.
So, when should you be advertising your business?
The bad news is, if you are asking yourself this question it’s already too late. But, we know if things are down you can only go up. So I want to share some insight on regaining control back in your business.
There’s a Chinese Proverb that says, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” This thinking could not explain marketing any better. The moment you start thinking you need to be doing some type of advertising, you are already behind the curve. You can’t think of it when production is down.
When you’re on the rollercoaster of your business, you should be thinking of your next move when you’re at the peak, not the valley. The main reason is because marketing takes time to gain momentum.
A great example comes from one of my private clients. One of the primary issues he wanted help with when we started working together was to help with the notoriously poor production in September at his office. September was always the worst month for them, so we put plans in place and started working on filling September in June, July and August. Long before September was there.
Now fast forward to a couple years of having systems in place, and September is now one of their best producing months. The next key is once you get September ironed out, you don’t stop marketing. You continue so that all the subsequent months are equally successful.
And what that does, is eliminate the rollercoaster effect in your business and you will start to notice your monthly numbers start to level out and no longer have thes bottom out months.
