That’s ok if you don’t because I’m going to tell you. I’ve got some insight of proven techniques that will really connect you with your patients that will make you their dentist, no questions asked.
Your patients are all human. We all share that common trait right? As humans we all have fears. Everyone is afraid of something. Maybe they simply don’t like the dentist, or they’re embarrassed, or they wish they could eat the foods they once could.
We all have these fears and insecurities in our heads. So if you really want to connect with your patients you have to sit down and figure out what those fears are and how to solve them.
At your next team meeting, with the whole team, have everyone brainstorm what your patients are afraid of. Get a big whiteboard or big piece of paper and write everything down you’ve heard patients say they don’t like or are scared of.
Is it the needle? Is it time? Is it money? Are they embarrassed of their smile? These are all little subtleties you are hearing every day from them that, if you just pay attention to, your patients will just tell you what their hang-ups are and what they want you to solve for them!
When your front desk is checking a patient out do they always hear, ‘Gosh, I have a hard time finding a time during the week to get in to see you guys’. Do you, doctor, always hear ‘Oh, I hate needles!’ before you numb someone.
By figuring out your current patients’ fears, it could open your eyes to a whole niche of specific patients in your practice that you can find more of. Because if you are the person to solve what they are dealing with, you will become the perfect dentist for them.
