Communicating With Your Patients Often

Only talking to your patients two times a year isn’t enough anymore.

If you are a dentist who has been running their own practice for any amount of time then I know you have invested a lot to get where you are today.  You’ve invested countless time and money, not only in yourself but your team, taking continuing ed courses, and in equipment to stay up to date.

It takes a lot to become and maintain being a dentist.

But even after all that over time have you noticed patient loyalty isn’t what it used to be?  Patients aren’t showing up for appointments like they used to.  Patients aren’t coming in as often as they should.  You’re getting more and more requests from patients to transfer their records.

If it’s getting harder to keep your schedule full, even though you’re an established dentist who’s been in practice for a long time.  Well the good news is, you’re not alone.

This new trend can be credited to the instantaneous world we live in now.  If you are only talking to your patients every six months when it’s time to come back in for hygiene that is too long.  A lot can happen for a patient in six months in this world of instant access we live in.

So to overcome this you really have to work on communicating with your patients on a regular and consistent basis.

Dentists often invest in getting new patients to come into the office but little is done to keep them coming back.  The reality is even though they came to see you that doesn’t mean they are your patients.  It’s like a relationship.  You have to keep reminding them you are their dentist.

The minimum you should be communicating with your patients is once a month.  Minimum.

There are many ways to stay in contact with them.  Monthly newsletters, either physical mail or electronically, and keeping your social media updated.  Even if they get your newsletter in the mail, look at it, see it’s from you and toss it in the trash you made that connection with them.  ‘Oh, that’s just my dentist’s newsletter.’  It’s a subtle reminder to them, ‘Hey patient, here’s what’s going on with your dentist, we’ll see you in 2 months’.

In this video, you’ll learn about:

  • How to keep up in the world of instant access
  • How often you should be communicating with your patients
  • How to remind your patients you are their dentist
Please take a few minutes and watch the video above– do it for you and for your practice.
I wish you nothing but success,
Ginger
