If you’re like most business owners, you’re doing many different things in your business trying to get more clients and grow your business.  But if something came along that would make a tremendous difference, do you even have time, energy, or money to take it on?

For most business owners, the answer is “Not without shifting a lot of things around.”
So, what should you be focusing on?

Well, unfortunately, for most business owners, they do a lot of things without enough reason why with too small return on investment. The best way to determine this is to make a list of what you’re doing.

It’s time to take inventory.

Here’s how:
  1. Create a grid a line across the top and make one vertical column to record everything you do right now to get or keep patients, clients, or customers. List them all out, it’s time to get real and see what’s really working for you.
  2. In the second column, look at what kind of results are you getting from each of them. Is it working (well) for you? Are you spending a lot of money? How much energy are you putting in to get this level of results. Are you spending a small fortune on a website and SEO, that’s not really give you a return on your investment? Now look for those hidden gems that you weren’t given a lot of attention that really give you a decent return.
  3. And now the third column, this is where we start to evaluate where things are. Is it not working anymore? And is it failing because you didn’t put the effort into it like you did before? Did you kind of forget about it? Did you not follow up on what you’re supposed to? We all have those things that we neglect because we get busy with life, me included.
It’s time to get honest with ourselves of what’s happening in each of these situations.  What other things could we filter money, time, and energy into that would get us results?

This process really gets clear on where you’re at in your business, and what working for you.

We all have certain strengths and weaknesses. And what I find most people are trying to do, they’re feeling guilty about what they’re not good at. And then they’re trying to spend more energy and time to compensation in that area instead of spending time on what you’re good at and could ramp up.

If it’s a critical area, maybe you need help, maybe you need to delegate it out. Maybe you need an advisor or coach to walk you through the process to get you through there with outside eyes and resources to fill the gaps.

Maybe you’ve not assessed completely what’s changed since the pandemic and updated your entire strategy plan. It’s time to create clarity to identify where you need to go from here.
