Old school is new school again.
I’m going into my swipe file of marketing examples and breaking down this clever idea that doesn’t cost a lot but makes a big impact that came to my mail box. I’m showing you what they did well, and what missed the mark so you don’t make the same mistake. I’m sharing tips on doing test campaigns for not a lot of cash with this strategy and then how to ramp it up.
The first job of mail marketing is to get read and this one creates curiosity to open the door (or the mail box in this case) to pique your prospect interest.
The old school tool…a Free Standing Insert (FSI for short) that looks like a convincing personal note, like something you would expect from someone you know. The marketing points that work in this piece would be easy to duplicate while starting to build relationships with prospects in your area. Plus this technique is not often used anymore so it will make you stand out, in a good way.
