Your online presence is important for your dental practice, but be sure that you are active in monitoring your online reputation.
It’s important that you are able to monitor any and all aspects of your social media and online reputation. Many times practices are in many places at once, but they are not monitoring all of these pages.
Being aware of your online reputation is important because this is what potential patients see when they are looking up information for your office.
The more places you are online, the more people have an opportunity to see you, but there is also more opportunity for negative comments. If there are negative comments being posted about your practice online and it is not being monitored because you don’t know about it, then it goes unchecked. Prospective patients find that online and that deters them from seeking care from your office.
Make sure you know where you are online so that you can be in control of what is being said about your practice. It allows you to address negative comments and maintain your reputation. Sometimes, it’s just about how people see you handle a complaint – in a classy manner.

Here are some tips on how to monitor your online reputation:
1. “Google” yourself – Search for information that potential patients would be looking for.
2. Focus on key social media site – Make sure you know all the areas of social media you are so you can better monitor yourself.
3. Monitor your social activity and reputation – Free sites like SocialMention.com can send you alerts about your social presence.
4. Have one main page per social media – This just makes it easier for you to monitor yourself and pull your traffic down.
5. Set up a “Google Alert” – This is a beacon that you can set up that sends you alert anytime ANYONE mentions you.
These tools can help you keep tabs on what is being said about you and your practice. It’s important that you know what your reputation is because it is what potential patients will see.
