Dr. Ginger Bratzel talks about social media and if it’s right for you.

A lot of times the topics for these weekly strategies come from real dentists emailing or calling us with questions. Today’s topic came from a question we received regarding social media and I felt it would be a great topic to share since social media is a hot topic. The question was ‘what should I be doing on social media?’
As dentists and business owners the thought of adding one more thing to your plate can seem overwhelming. Especially something that is new and unfamiliar.
Your job is running your dental practice. Knowing the systems and automations to do so effectively and efficiently. You’re not expected to also be an expert on social media. Plus, with social media being fairly new in the business promoting realm, a lot of dentists are unsure of what they really need to be doing to help them.
So here’s my first question: “Who IS YOUR Who?” What is your target, patient? Where do they look and get their information?

For this dentist in particular, his demographic is mostly geriatric patients. Although, they are the most steadily growing demographic of social media users, there are more effective ways he could reach out to his patients. He also realized, there were other avenues we was ignoring, that served him much better because he was trying to stay on track with the next shiny thing. So I gave him permission to let go of social media and focus on things that was more efficient for reaching his idea patients. He was so relieved because that was one less thing he needed to focus on.
