Get more patients by building a relationship with specific local businesses.
I have gotten this question several times recently so I wanted to share this dental office marketing tip with you.
It’s ‘how do I get more patients from local businesses?’, namely by targeting a specific company? So I have a direct marketing strategy to share with you to make this process super easy. It’s almost cut and paste.
Before you even get started, I want to be clear on the intentions. You aren’t targeting the business. You are targeting the people of the business: real human beings with real emotions and needs.
It’s more like creating a relationship with the great people in that business not the business itself. It is relationship focused, not business focused.
Think of this way, ‘we are great people here at Dr. Smiles’ office who want to get to know the great people at this XYZ Company’.
I have broken this down into a 3-step approach that will help you break that initial barrier, get more new patients, and fill your schedule.

The first step is simply taking a fruit basket or gift basket over with a personal visit. The best way to get your foot in the door is food. Just a nice gesture saying ‘Hey we’re in the area. We already have a lot of great patients from your office and just wanted to promote local business in our area by sharing this gift with you.’ This stage is about building a rapport with them on the common grounds. The next stage may take a little time, because it’s about building a relationship with them over several months. Again it’s not just the business, it’s with the people. Get to know the key people in that company, not necessarily the CEO or HR director, but the ones that knows everyone else; the ones who will spread the word about you. Visit with them. Make sure to follow them on social media and get to know them personally.
In the video, I’ll work through the third and final stage, which is the most important. I give insight on everything you need to know to get these great people into your office and create patients for life. I also share a great analogy of what to compare these relationships to and once you think of it in that light it will all fall into place.
