Facebook is forever changing, but if you are using it the right way you won’t have any problems keeping up.

Like any thriving business, Facebook is constantly changing and improving to keep their users happy. As a business owner, you can appreciate that because you know the customer comes first. Otherwise you wouldn’t have a business.
Facebook recently made some changes to their algorithm; which is a fancy way of saying they updated the formula that determines what shows up on each user’s newsfeed.
They wanted to improve the user’s experience so this new algorithm means posts from friends and family will come first in their newsfeed. And posts from publishers will appear less in the newsfeed.
YEAH: Which from a user’s point of view this is great! You’re seeing more from the people important to you.
BOO: But if you’re a business, working to get more people to notice your business on Facebook, this could be crushing because you are considered the publisher.

But the good news for you is if you’ve been following what I’ve been teaching you about Facebook for years, this doesn’t really affect you. This is where posting on your Facebook page versus Facebook advertising comes into play.
I often get resistance from doctors when talking about paying to use Facebook advertising because they think, ‘Oh, I’ll just post our specials on my page for free, so I don’t need to pay’.
But according to Facebook’s new algorithm, few of these promotional types of posts are going to be shown to the users. Which is why advertising is more important than ever because ads will allow you to target prospective patients even if they aren’t seeing your content on your page. It keeps the two worlds separate.
Which makes Facebook happy and you can focus on posts that are more personable and have high value for your fans.
Give the users of Facebook something relevant and of value to them that they will want to share with their friends and family. Stop putting the emphasis on the dental procedure and put it back on the people and your Facebook won’t have any problems keeping up with the latest changes.
