Utilizing The Prime Real Estate On Facebook

Maximizing your Facebook real estate for little to no cost to grow your practice.

 

We’ve all heard and know of a little website called Facebook.  For many people (oh, roughly a couple billion) it has almost become a staple in their lives.  Something they look at every day to stay current in their friends’ lives, as their news source, and as a place for recommendations for products and services.

While I understand Facebook for personal use isn’t for everyone, it should be for every business.  It can really be an effective tool for any business for so many reasons.

So I just have to ask why, WHY isn’t every dentist utilizing this resource for their practice?  Especially when there are many ways to promote your practice for FREE.  I believe one of the main reasons business owners aren’t using is because they aren’t fully aware of its full potential and just how easy it can be.

One of the easiest ways you can promote your practice and get more exposure is by utilizing the key area on your page called the Cover Photo.  When looking at your page it is the large rectangular area at the top of the page.  It is the biggest piece of prime real estate your page has to offer.

It has the power to set the tone of your patients’ first impression of your office.  Your Facebook page is limited to their formatting, which is why getting full use out of this space is so important.  This is where you can really show your practice’s personality to your patients and prospects.

So, it’s important you use this space and keep it up to date.  Not to scare you but ideally I would suggest updating your cover photo every month.  It doesn’t have to be a big production.  When the beginning of each month rolls around grab the team and snap a quick photo with something relevant to that month.  January could be New Year’s themed, February something for Valentine’s Day, March St. Patty’s day, and so on…

Plus, Facebook’s algorithm favors businesses who keep their page current by updating photos often.  This will not only help your relationship with Facebook, it will also help your relationship with your patients.  Your page will show up in their newsfeed more often letting them know you updated your cover photo and they will be seeing what a fun dental practice you have making you stand out from the crowd.  It’s a win-win for everyone.
