It’s okay to bring up problems, but you have to have a solution, too.

A simple strategy that can change how you handle the daily issues of running a dental practice.

This week’s topic came up from a meeting I had recently with one of my private clients.  They stated they had a team member that kept coming to them with issues within the office and was basically dumping it all on them.

Now, this isn’t an uncommon issue.  All businesses have issues that arise. It’s a part of the process, but it’s how you handle those issues is that can make you successful.

During this meeting, I offered my client a little piece of advice, a personal rule of mine from being a business owner for so many years.  It’s okay if a team member brings an issue to you but they must also offer a possible solution with it.

It creates an ownership mentality from employees because now they are responsible for being part of the answer, and not just the bearer of bad news.  And as the owner, you are no longer the only problem solver in the business.

This is why I thought it was important to share this little tip with you this week.   I break it down with this simple strategy that can help your entire practice run more smoothly while also empowering your employees and taking a little pressure off the doctor at the same time.

  • A simple task that will empower your team
  • If presented with an issue, you also need a solution
  • Dumping problems on the manager won’t help the issue
