Eliminating Toxic Relationships

Eliminating toxic relationships from all sources, including your dental practice.

I have encountered many dentists in my lifetime and I could probably count on one hand dentists who weren’t passionate about their career. And while I know you do great work and love what you do, I see all too often that dentists are in relationships they have no business being in.

Practice growth and personal growth go hand in hand, and sometimes part of that growth is cutting toxic relationships out of your life in order for you to thrive.

You are a product of the five people you spend the most time with. Your income will even be directly related to that. Think of the 5 people you spend the most time with, and you are probably very similar ‘on paper’. But most people hold on to relationships too long and things become toxic.

For myself personally when I am looking for circles and mastermind groups I want to connect with, I look for people who are way ahead of me in their career because I want to ascend to their level.

I want you to know you don’t need to be the smartest person in the room. Now, I know that may not be good for our ego but you need to associate with people who are smarter than you. This even includes the people you hire to work for you. Because if they aren’t smarter than you, then they are behind you and you don’t want someone pulling you down. Look for team members who want to advance and grow, those are the kind of people you need.

What about toxicity in your dental team? Do you have a team member that is negative and seems to bring everyone down? Who is never on board with positive changes for growth in your practice? Maybe you need to let them go because they aren’t there for your bottom line. This even applies to your patients. I’m sure we’ve all had that patient that you dread seeing at one point or another. When you see they are next on your patient list you groan. It’s time to let them go. You don’t need these types of people muddying up the water in your life.

This is exactly why I love my private clients and mastermind group. Everybody in the room has the same goals and agenda: taking their lives and practice to the next level. They want to be growing, advancing professionals and they care about your success, just like their own.
